Chinese table (part of PlexiWorkshop)
• See English text below.
• We don't really seem to know how to best understand and interpret China, in our early decades of the 21st century. Same goes for our own Western civilization, by the way.
In any case, as an attempt to begin this deeper understanding, I wanted to understand more about the stylistic features of the Chinese furniture language. After all, art / culture is undeniably a great bridge builder. My Chinese table was born.
The parts of the tables in this series are laser-cut from a 3 mm thick plastic mirror plate and rigidly connected with laser-cut wedges.
It only seems logical for the object to have a mirrored surface, given the confusion / ignorance with which we conduct our debates, including those about China.
And therefore to be on the safe side; whoever mirrors himself finds a latent perpetrator; in any case, better starts with yourself.
